Worcester Police make drug bust near Castle Park

WORCESTER, MA –  The Worcester Police Department, in response to complaints from the community has been observing drug activity near Castle Park. On Thursday, they observed a drug transaction and made an arrest.

On January 14th 2021, members of the Worcester Police Neighborhood Response Team were following up on quality of life complaints in the King St area. At about 12 PM, their attention was drawn to three males in the area of Castle Park. One of the males, later identified as Wilberto Negron, forty-six-years-old of Russell St, took several small plastic bags and placed them in his belt area. He walked away north on Valley St and met up with two individuals. Mr. Negron took paper currency from the two individuals, and took a small plastic bag from his waistband and exchanged it for the cash.

At this point, officers moved in and recovered a tan substance that appeared to be heroin from the buyer. Mr. Negron was placed under arrest. After a search, officers discovered a class B substance (suboxone) for which Mr. Negron did not have a prescription. He is charged with Distribution of a Class A Substance (Heroin) 2nd or subsequent offense, Possession of a Class A Substance (Heroin) 2nd or subsequent offense, and Possession of a Class B Substance. He will be arraigned in court.
