17-year-old arrested in Atlantic City for armed robbery of woman at gunpoint

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A Teenager was arrested this weekend for the armed robbery of a woman on the streets of Atlantic City. According to a police report, on January 23, 2021, a juvenile male was arrested several hours after returning to the area where an armed robbery was committed.

At 9:40 am, patrol officers responded to Sovereign and Atlantic Avenues for a report of a robbery. A woman, 35, was robbed at gunpoint and her purse was stolen. The purse was later located with only money missing. A detailed description of the suspect was obtained and provided to officers.

At 7:04 pm, Officers Ivaylo Penchev and Curtis Massey were patrolling the same area when they observed a male matching the suspect’s description. The 17-year-old male was taken into custody without incident.

ARRESTED: A 17-year-old male from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and aggravated assault.

The male was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
