New Jersey man burns to death after revving engine of car stuck in snow

LITTLE FERRY, NJ – A 62-year old man is dead after repeatedly revving up the engine of his Mazda while stuck in a snowbank. Little Ferry Police were on the scene trying to assist the driver.  The driver was trying to force his car out of the snowbank and as officers were returning to their patrol car to call for a tow truck, they say they heard a pop and then saw the car catch fire.

The department said the officers tried to gain entry into the vehicle to rescue the man but the doors were locked and the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames, forcing the officers to abandon their effort to save him.
