Nancy Pelosi says she doesn’t have to seat duly elected Republicans in Congress

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi took her rhetoric one step further today as she seeks to overturn the election of Ohio Republican Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks. In a statement, Pelosi said it is her right as Speaker to deny seating duly elected members of Congress. This year, she was urged not to seat any Republicans who supported the Texas election lawsuit. Now, she’s waging an election lawsuit of her own, trying to overturn the results of the 2nd District Congressional election in Iowa.

“Losing a House election by six votes is painful for Democrats,” Minnesota Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips said. “But overturning it in the House would be even more painful for America. Just because a majority can, does not mean a majority should.”
