SYRACUSE, NY – Detectives located a homicide suspect in Syracuse, NY, and with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals and the Syracuse Police Department. Police arrested 21- year- old Derrick Pride Jr. for the 2nd degree murder of 31- year- old Tedarrell Davenport earlier this month in St. Petersburg.
On Saturday, April 10th, shortly after 1 p.m., St. Petersburg Police were called to the scene of a shooting that occurred at the intersection of Freemont Terrace South and 32nd Street South. Davenport was found lying next to a vehicle.
Investigators determined that Pride and Davenport knew each other and this was not a random shooting. Detectives also had reason to believe that Pride fled to New York shortly after the murder.
After the U.S. Marshals took him into custody, St. Petersburg Police detectives flew to Syracuse, NY, and interviewed the suspect. Pride will remain in custody and will eventually be returned to Pinellas County to face charges.
