Hamden man charged for trashing CVS, punching police K-9 Sar

HAMDEN, CT – On April 26, 2021, at approximately 5:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to CVS, 2045 Dixwell Avenue on the report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers observed extensive damage to the front of the store.

A male subject was observed inside.

When officers approached him, he “dove to the ground” and then punched K-9 Sar, who was on leash, three times in the head. He was promptly arrested.

An investigation revealed that Cyril damaged 4 panels, a door tracking device and 2 sliding glass doors. The damage is estimated at $5,000.00.Hamden Police arrested Khaleb Cyril, 23, of 175 Oberlin Road, Hamden.

He was charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, Cruelty to Animals and Interfering with a Police Officer. He is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court at a later date.
