COLUMBUS, OH – On Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 3:14pm, Columbus Police Officers were called to 70 S. Harris Ave. on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Derek Ponder and 42-year-old Shandi Wiley suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Ponder was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where he was pronounced deceased at 6:19pm. Wiley to was transported to OSU Wexner Medical Center in stable condition. Wiley is expected to recover from her injuries.
Detectives have filed a warrant charging 19-year-old David Johnson with Murder for causing Ponder’s death. Anyone who knows Johnson’s whereabouts is asked to contact CPD at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
