Man threw woman out of vehicle after argument as police followed

Mahanoy City Police charged John J. Weikel, age 46, with Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Harassment, and Driving Under Suspension after an incident Tuesday afternoon.

After a borough employee witnessed two people physically fighting inside a moving vehicle on Center Street, officers caught up to the vehicle on the 8th Street Road and witnessed Weikel push a female passenger out of the vehicle and onto the shoulder of the road.

Weikel was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Anthony Kilker and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. The female passenger, age 21, sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention.
