Kenton- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is conducting a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred late Friday night.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Friday April 30, 2021, a 44-year-old Clayton man was seated in the passenger’s side of his disabled vehicle parked on the northbound shoulder of Arthursville Road waiting on a tow truck. As the tow truck came into view from the southbound side, the 44-year-old man exited the passenger side of his vehicle and began to waive/signal to the tow truck driver who pulled off on the southbound shoulder. The 44-year-old male victim stayed in the northbound lane and began to speak to the tow truck driver, who was standing at the rear of the tow truck. After a brief conversation, the 44-year-old male victim turned and began to walk back to his disabled vehicle when he was struck by a 2007 Ford Fusion that was driving northbound on Arthursville Road towards Kenton.

The 44-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.  His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The 25-year-old female operator of the Ford Fusion, from Goldsboro, Maryland, was uninjured in the collision and was able to come to a controlled stop on the northbound shoulder of Arthursville Road.

The tow truck operator was uninjured.
