Student impaled by javelin during track and field accident

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A 16-year-old student was impaled by a javelin during a track and field session at Donovan Catholic High School on Hooper Avenue on Wednesday. Police say the incident happened at 5:40 pm when the Pine Beach teenager was struck by a javelin which penetrated several inches into his right thigh.

The Toms River Fire Company responded to the scene and had to cut the javelin so the teen could be transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Police said the teen was conscious upon arrival and there was no further report of his current condition.
