Mo Hill Protege Eyeing Congressional Run

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Matt Lotano, a Toms River builder and staunch ally of Mayor Maurice Hill announced he is considering a run for Congress against U.S. Congressman Andy Kim.

In an interview with the New Jersey Globe, Lotano, a developer, said he has interest in the job. Lotano is a councilman in Toms River who won his election with Hill in 2019.

I’ve thought about it.  I haven’t made a decision,” Lotano told the Globe.  “If I had support from the party, I would consider it.”

Lotano said that some Republican insiders have suggested that he take on Kim in the 2022 mid-term election, but said he has not formally met with party leaders yet.

Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill said that Lotano would make a good candidate if he decides to run.

“Matt have proven himself to be a very competent councilman,” said Hill.  “I think he’d be a breadth of fresh air in Congress.  He has a lot of positives.”
