Mom charged for killing 7-year-old son, stabbing older brother in Paterson

PATERSON, NJ – Iris Tolentino, 46, was charged for the stabbing death of a 7-year-old boy in Paterson and also for stabbing her older 14-year-old son. After killing the boy, Tolentino’s teenage son locked her in the bathroom and restrained her until police arrived. She resisted arrested once police made entry.

The younger brother was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. The teenager was stabbed in the arm, treated at the hospital and released.

Tolentino was sent to the hospital to undergo a psychological evaluation before being charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and other various charges.

Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh visited with the family at the hospital saying, “An alarming act of domestic violence has turned into an unspeakable tragedy. Consoling the family of the young victim and asking all of you to pray for the father and the two sons.”
