Drunk driver crashes into Minneapolis police protest killing one

Minneapolis, MN – A suspected drunk driver crashed into a crowd of protesters in Minneapolis late Sunday night, killing one person. Police said they suspect drugs or alcohol to be the cause of the accident and that it was not a deliberate attack against the protesters.

The incident happened Uptown where protesters have been voicing their outrage over the death of Winston Smith, Jr., a black man who was shot and killed by U.S. Marshals earlier this month. Witnesses said people were in the street playing a game of red light, green light when the incident happened. The victim a female was pronounced dead.

Protesters quickly subdued the driver.

The driver was arrested on scene by police as a man screamed, “Hands up”.
