Murphy doubles down on anti-vax shaming, a ‘pandemic of unvaccinated’

TRENTON, NJ – After saying New Jersey is experiencing a pandemic of the unvaccinated on Monday, Governor Phil Murphy doubled down on his anti-vaccination shaming on Wednesday.

“There is only a pandemic among those who have yet to get their shot,” Murphy said. “I noted on Monday that these vaccines work. Our own data has shown them to be 99.94% effective against infection with the coronavirus with even stronger protection against hospitalization and death.”

Murphy, who earlier in the reopening process asked that New Jerseyans not shame or mock those who continue to wear facemasks, Murphy used his public address as a bully pulpit to attack the anti-vaccination community.

“Our data unequivocally tells a story being written by the unvaccinated,” he added.

Murphy said of the 300 positives, they are all unvaccinated residents. Murphy went on to assume that 7 newly reported COVID-19 deaths were all unvaccinated, though he provided no medical evidence to back up his claim.

“The vaccine will prevent you from being one of our numbers on the dashboard,” he said.

As of Wednesday, 4.6 million New Jerseyans have been fully vaccinated.
