GAINESVILLE, FL – On Thursday, shortly after 7 pm, deputies responded to Eastwood Meadows Apartments after the Combined Communications Center received a report of a shooting. Upon arrival deputies located the victim, on the ground suffering with gunshot wounds, and rendered emergency medical assistance until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation revealed that Jermaine Torres Williams, 19, who had a child in common with the victim, shot her and fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Deputies were able to locate Mr. Williams who was later transported to the Alachua County Department of the Jail, charging him with murder and tampering with evidence.
