South Carolina Corrections Officer Smuggled Pills in Rice Krispie Treats

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The SCDC Office of Investigations and Intelligence released the arrest warrants today for a correctional officer at Camille Graham Correctional Institution. Marcy T. Shaffer, 43, of Columbia was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, furnishing prisoners with contraband and misconduct in office.

The charges against her involve attempting to smuggle the pills into the institution in a Rice Krispies treat. She was fired after her arrest. The S.C. Department of Corrections reminds members of the public that after an arrest, the burden of proof is on the state to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt within a court of law
