Toms River East Little League shuts out Jackson Little League

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Toms River and Manchester Little Leaguers competing in the 2021 District 18 championship tournament had a surprise visitor Monday night when former Little League World Champion and Major Leaguer Todd Frazier showed up. Frazier signed autographs for the boys and cheered on his former league.

On the field, Toms River defeated Jackson Little League 7-0 with Cole Garrison on the mound to start. Joey DiMeo closed the game in the 5th inning for TRELL. With deep power in the Toms River lineup, Jackson was able shut down Toms River’s long ball game who relied instead on solid singles and doubles to drive in the needed runs.

Toms River will play Manchester in Brick on Wednesday at 7:30 in the double-elimination tournament. Jackson will move to the loser’s bracket and play Barnegat in Lacey on Wednesday.

Manchester Little League defeated Barnegat 4-1 on Monday night to advance to Wednesday night’s game against Toms River East Little League.
