BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – One of the last remaining public ice skating centers in Ocean County will be shutting down at the end of July. Brick’s Ocean Ice Palace, a family-owned and operated business for 60 years announced this week it is shutting down. For now, that leaves Winding River and Howell Ice Worl as the last two area ice rinks in the area.  There is also the Jersey Shore Arena in Wall Township and the Red Bank Armory further north.

“After almost 60 years of Family Owned & Operated business’ Ocean Ice Palace & Ocean Hockey Supply will be closing their doors at the end of this month. We are extremely thankful to all the friends who have become family and customers who have become friends over the years,” the owners posted in a statement. “The decision was not made lightly and certainly not without being given much thought. We will continue to run all programs and camps as scheduled through the end of this month and our shop will remain open until then.”

There will be a 40% discount on equipment in the pro shop at the facility.

The rink has been in operation since 1962 and has been operated by the family of Dr. Leon J. Dwulet since.
