Two shot dead in Irvington on Fourth of July

IRVINGTON, NJ – Police are investigating the murder of two men, shot Sunday night in Irvington.  The incident happened on Montrose Terrace around midnight on Sunday. Malik A. McCallister, 38, and Tarik R. Barnes, 42 both died of gunshot wounds, pronounced dead at the hospital later that night.  The Essex County Prosecutor’s office is investigating the incident and did not release any further information. The murder went unnoticed by people in the area as the gunshots were hidden in a barrage of fireworks in the neighborhood, until witnesses found the two men shot.
