You must do it now, Persichilli to parents who want to vaccinate children before new school year

TRENTON, NJ – If you were thinking of having your child fully vaccinated in time for the return to school in September, New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said those children must get vaccinated now.

Persichilli said in order to be fully vaccinated, including the waiting periods between vaccination and after the second shot, parents need to make an appointment immediately.

“They need to make an appointment for their child today,” Persichilli said. “So they can be fully vaccinated when the school year begins.”

As for children 12-17, only 44% of Jersey kids have had at least one dose of vaccine. There is no vaccine yet available to children under 12.

“We need that to be much higher,” said New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli. “Getting your children vaccinated is the best thing you can do. It allows them to safely return to schools and sports and other activities they missed out on over the past year.”
