Shark attack? Lifeguard bit in water off Jones Beach

JONES BEACH – A lifeguard at Jones beach reported that he was bitten by something in the ocean, but was unable to explain what it was. He said he was 15 yards offshore when he felt something biting his ankle. He said he kicked it away and swam safely back to shore. The bite could possibly have been from a small shark or other fish in the ocean, but it has not yet been determined who or what the attacker was.
