Brick ShopRite stabbing victim recovering in critical, but stable condition cops say

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – Police say a man who was stabbed in the parking lot of ShopRite in Brick Township on Monday is recovering from his injuries. He is listed, according to police in critical, but stable condition.

The incident happened at Brick Plaza at the intersection of Chambersbridge Road and Route 70.

Police reported that at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of the ShopRite on Route 70 in Brick in reference to a male victim that had been stabbed there.

“Responding officers found a 44-year-old male victim with apparent stab wounds to his back. The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of his injuries where he is reported to be in critical but stable condition,” Chief Riccio said.

At this time, Ocean County Prosecutor Brad Billhimer cautions residents that there is no danger to the public at this time.

“Our investigation indicates this was a targeted attack against the victim,” Billhimer stated. “We will release more information as it becomes available.”
