Female carjacker “Tesla” dragged victim causing serious injury

MECHANICSBURG, PA – On August 15, 2021 at about 6:15 PM, Upper Allen Police were dispatched to the 500 block of McCormick Road for an active disturbance. An investigation determined that the suspect, Tesla Marie Wetzel, 25, attempted to drive the victim’s vehicle that was parked along the roadway without his permission.

When the male attempted to stop Wetzel from taking his vehicle, the male was dragged and Wetzel recklessly drove away from the scene in an attempt to release him from the vehicle.

The male victim sustained significant lacerations to his back and was treated at the scene. Police located Wetzel a short time later in the vehicle and she was arrested without incident. Wetzel was transported to the Cumberland County Central Booking where she was arraigned and committed to the Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing will be held on a later date.
