Teen girl randomly shot while driving with her friends on I-95

New Castle – The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting on I95 that occurred on Sunday, sending a female teen to a local hospital.

The incident was reported around 12:30 a.m. Sunday August 15, 2021 when Troopers responded to the area of I95 northbound and Churchmans Road for a report of a subject shot. Upon their arrival, they made contact with three 17-year-old females who advised they were northbound on I95 when they heard what they thought were rocks hitting their car. The 17-year-old operator soon realized it was gunshots when a window shattered.

She immediately pulled to the shoulder of the road and observed an injury to her right clavicle. Neither of the other two teenage passengers were injured during the incident. The 17-year-old operator was transported by EMS to an area hospital where she was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

No description of the vehicle or suspects were obtained through the witness accounts.
