Two from Fort Walton killed in Crash in Destin

DESTIN, FL – Two Fort Walton Beach area residents died in a traffic accident that took place around 2:20 p.m. on Highway 98 in Destin Thursday.

A 2009 Nissan Altima was making a left turn onto Henderson Beach Rd. from U.S. 98 and crossed into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado which was traveling westbound.

The 57-year-old female driver of the Nissan Altima was airlifted, but was pronounced upon arrival at FWBMC. The 33-year-old male passenger of the Altima was pronounced at the scene.

The 18-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Silverado sustained non-incapacitating injuries. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Homicide Investigation team.
