Philadelphia man arrested and charged for Camden murder

Camden N.J. – An arrest has been made in connection with a homicide in Camden last week, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

Maurice Peaker Jr., 26, of Philadelphia, PA was apprehended in Yeadon, PA today, August 26th, by the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the U.S. Marshals Eastern PA Violent Crimes Task Force – Philadelphia Division.

Thomas Smith, 67, of Camden was found in the area of Kaighn Ave. and Rose St. suffering from a gunshot wound in the early morning hours on Sunday August 15th. He was pronounced deceased at an area hospital that same day.

Peaker will be detained at the George Hill Correctional Facility in Delaware County, PA until his extradition hearing.
