COVID-19 cases on the rise in Ocean County

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Ocean County is experiencing a third wave that has killed 13 people in the past week and infected 1,211 people during that same period.

The Ocean County Health Department reported the highest single-day total of new Covid-19 Cases since April 9th. There were 261 cases recorded today. 24 new cases in Jackson, 51 in Toms River, 42 in Lakewood, and 41 in Brick. Ocean County also recorded 13 new deaths in the last week as well.

The OCHD does not break down its daily totals in its public reporting by age, nor does it report the severity of those cases and the number of asymptomatic patients who received positive test results. No data is available on false-positive test results.

Ocean County now has recorded 71,493 cases of Covid-19. The third wave of COVID-19 in Ocean County is producing more positive test results than the first and is nearing the numbers of the second.

Today, New Jersey’s overall rate of transmission dropped from 1.08 to 1.06. 1,841 new positive PCR test results were reported today by the state and 585 positive antigen tests.
