Newark Police searching for thief suspected to be in Linden

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ricky Fernandez, 23, of Linden, in connection with the theft of a catalytic converter that occurred on Saturday, August 28, 2021.At approximately 6 p.m., police responded to East Kinney Street, near Mulberry Street, on a call of a theft. A catalytic converter was removed from a victim’s vehicle parked in the area.

Detectives investigating this incident have identified Ricky Fernandez as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He is described as 5’4” tall, 120 lbs. with an olive complexion, black hair and brown eyes.

Director O’Hara urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of Ricky Fernandez to call the Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
