Driver who fled fatal North Hills crash arrested

NORTH HILLS, CA- On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, around 5:20 a.m., a black 2016 Range Rover was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Hayvenhurst Avenue when it ran the red light and collided with a 2018 Toyota Camry, traveling eastbound on Nordhoff Street. The Range Rover then collided with a gray Honda Civic and white Toyota Tacoma, traveling westbound Nordhoff Street.

The force of the multi-vehicle collision caused the Range Rover to continue in a northwest direction north of Nordhoff Street before coming to rest. Two male suspects exited the black Range Rover and fled from the scene in a northbound direction, failing to stop, render aid or identify themselves as required by law. The driver identified as Abraham M Espinosa Velasco, was taken into custody and booked for 187(a)PC-Murder. His booking No. is 6258917 and bail set at 1 million dollars.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the driver of the gray Honda dead at scene. The driver was a female approximately 56-years-old and her identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified. She had a male passenger inside her vehicle that was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
