Man shot in the neck, fled while walking in the neighborhood

COLUMBUS, OH – On October 6, 2021, Columbus Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Helen St. on a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, 54-year-old James West, suffering from an apparent gunshot to the right side of his neck. West was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. He stated he was shot in the area of Central Point Plaza and ran home afterward. This incident is still under investigation.
