Gunman Shooting Passing Cars on I-95 Hits one then Accidentally Shot Himself

PALM CITY, FLORIDA – A 59-year old man was shot while driving northbound on a stretch of I-95 between Hobe Sound and Palm City around 6 a.m. Sunday morning. The victim pulled over and called 911 complaining of sudden pain. He did not realize that he sustained a wound from a gun shot, which came through his vehicle door and hit him in the stomach area. Not far from that scene, an off-duty Riviera Beach Police Officer, who was also headed northbound in the same area, stopped to assist a motorist who crashed off the side of the road.

When the officer got out of the car, 35-year old Aaron Chase Fedukovich walked out of the wooded area holding a gun. Fedukovich appeared to have also been shot in the arm. The officer instructed Fedukovich to drop the gun, and was successfully able to take him into custody while waiting for backup.

Detectives determined that Fedukovich of Ocala, fired multiple shots at passing vehicles as he was driving northbound on the interstate. One of those rounds penetrated the car door and struck the 59-year old victim. He was flown to an area hospital where he is expected to recover. Detectives determined that Aaron Fedukovich’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted. The wound was superficial and non-life threatening. He was taken to Lawnwood Medical Center where he was treated then released into custody. He has been charged with Aggravated Battery.

Detectives also received a third report from an Indian River County resident who discovered bullet holes in his vehicle. He was in the general area at the time of the incidents. Detectives are working to determine if the incident is related.
