Watch: Florida cops rescue man from burning vehicle

WEST MELBOURNE, FL – On November 4th, just after 10:30 AM Officers from the West Melbourne Police Department and Palm Bay Police Department were conducting an investigation at the Hampton Inn, located at 4520 Durham Dr. when they were alerted to an unrelated vehicle on fire.

Flames were visible as the officers approached the vehicle, which appeared to have crashed. They also observed smoke billowing out, making it difficult for the officers to determine if anyone was inside.

As they approached they could hear someone calling for help. Officers jumped into action, working together to remove the individual and pull him to safety. The male was taken to a local hospital to treat his injuries and is in stable condition. Had it not been for the swift action of these officers, things may have ended differently.

Two West Melbourne Police Officers and two Palm Bay Police Officers were also transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. 3 of the 4 officers have been released, and the 4th remains hospitalized for observation.
