Suspect charged for the attempted murder of a 79-year-old man

ROCHELLE PARK, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MOHAMMAD RAMADAN (DOB: 5/3/1987; single; tech consultant) of 27 Lexington Avenue, Rochelle Park, NJ on attempted murder, aggravated assault, and unlawful weapons possession charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at approximately 2:44 p.m., the Fair Lawn Police Department responded to a report of a 79-year-old injured male located at 0-99 Plaza Road in Fair Lawn. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ, where he was treated for head injuries.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the Fair Lawn Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit revealed that MOHAMMAD RAMADAN attempted to kill the victim with a wooden baton.

On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, MOHAMMAD RAMADAN was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1/11-3(a)(1); one count of second-degree aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b)1; one count of third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b)2; one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Fair Lawn Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
