Boston PD Recovers Loaded Firearm and Drugs While Placing Wanted Suspect in Custody in Dorchester

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS – At about 12:40 PM on Monday December 13, 2021, members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Joseph Bartley, 55, of Dorchester in the area of Mora Street and Washington Street in Dorchester.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant sought out of Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling as part of an ongoing investigation.

As the officers were placing the suspect in custody, they safely recovered a loaded handgun from the suspect’s sweatshirt pocket as well as two plastic bags containing crack cocaine from his pant’s pocket. In addition to the charges stemming from the warrant arrest, the suspect will also be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (3rd offense), Armed Career Criminal (Level 3) and Possession of Class B Drugs.
