Clerk found bound, gagged, and unresponsive after armed robbery in League City

LEAGUE CITY, TX – The League City Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at The Coyote Mart convenience store, 3026 W Marina Bay Dr, where a bystander found the store clerk unconscious outside the store.

On Sunday, December 19, 2021 around 7:10 a.m., a customer arrived at the convenience store and found the clerk unconscious outside on the ground. The clerk’s hands were taped behind his back and tape covered his mouth. The clerk was unresponsive and was transported to the hospital.

Surveillance video shows the suspect, who was wearing dark clothing, approach on foot from the east, and enter the store at approximately 6:55 a.m. The suspect then displays a handgun and moves behind the counter. The suspect stole money from the cash registers and walked from the store. It appears that the clerk was injured while attempting to get away.

The clerk, 46-year-old Rafiq Maknojia, is in stable condition. The League City Police Department is asking for anyone with information relating to this robbery to contact Detective Yount at 281-554-1849.
