Ft. Lauderdale Police investigating Sunday morning shooting

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating the homicide of an adult male that occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. on Sunday, December 26th. The incident occurred at 801 Northeast 62nd Street in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Officers responded to the area after reports of a shooting. Officers located an adult male in the parking lot who had been shot. A second victim was located with non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Broward Health North.

Preliminary investigation has revealed the first victim was in an altercation with an unknown suspect when he was shot. The second victim was not involved and was struck by a stray bullet.

The first victim was pronounced dead on scene. He has been identified as Bernie Jean, B/M, DOB 5/6/1984, a resident of the city of Pompano Beach.
