Call for illegal dumping ends with act of kindness in Hillborough

HILLSBOROUGH, FL – Hillsborough County deputies were dispatched to a call for illegal dumping alongside a road, but when Deputy Fortin arrived, she realized there was something else going on.

She arrived at the call to see a homeless man rummaging through garbage for a meal.

“Deputy Fortin received a call for service that stated a male was dumping trash on the side of the road. When she arrived, she found a homeless male who was searching for something to eat. Deputy Fortin noticed the male was attempting to eat an expired tangerine so she offered him a Slim Jim and a bottle of water from her patrol vehicle. The male was extremely grateful and thanked Deputy Fortin for her kindness,” the HSBC said in a statement.
