Man stabbed at Jersey Shore sports complex

ABSECON, NJ – A man was found critically injured from stab wounds after an altercation at the Sports Complex, 1000 Morton Avenue.

Officers were called to the Sports Complex just before 1:30 AM on January 1, 2022 for a report of a person stabbed. Responding officers provided life-saving measures to the victim. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

Officers immediately located the accused, William C. Clanton, 21, of Absecon in the complex. He was taken into custody without incident.

Clanton was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of Weapons for Unlawful Purposes and Unlawful Possession of Weapons.
Clanton was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Absecon Police Department at (609) 641-0667
