Elizabeth man charged for stabbing murder on New Year’s Eve

ELIZABETH, NJ – An Elizabeth man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that took place overnight, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca jointly announced Saturday.

Edwin Rivera, 48, is charged with first-degree murder and two related weapons offenses in connection with the fatal stabbing of Jose Burgos, 56, of Elizabeth.
