Guess what? If you’ve been fully vaccinated and boosted with Moderna’s mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, you’re not done yet, according to company CEO Stephane Bancel. Bancel announced this week that those vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine are going to require a second booster shot this coming fall.
Speaking at a Goldman Sachs healthcare conference, Bancel said, “I still believe we’re going to need boosters in the fall of ’22 and forward.”
Moderna announced during its third-quarter earnings results that commercial booster market sales could reach $2 billion in the United States in 2022, according to the New York Post.
The company is planning a long-term mRNA vaccine business strategy that has sent its stock prices skyrocketing during the pandemic. At the onset of the pandemic, Moderna’s stock prices were hovering around the $20 range. Moderna stock surged to over $400 in September after booster shots began being pushed by the U.S. government and Dr. Anthony Fauci, but have since taken a 50% hit, now hovering in the $200 per share range.
