MANASQUAN, NJ – Manasquan police responded to the area of Broad Street after receiving an alert that an imminent crime and threat was taking place. It turned out it was just a swatting incident, but now, police are aggressively investigating to find the prankster and bring them to justice.
It would be a good idea for the prankster to turn themselves in now, as more police resources are now being wasted to find them…and they most likely will.
On 01/06/2021 at approximately 8:00 pm, dispatch received a call from an individual reporting a crime that took place in the area of Broad Street. Based on the crime and credible information provided to dispatch the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team and Rapid Deployment Force were requested.
Members of the Manasquan Police Department, Sea Girt Police Department , and Wall Township Police (732)449-4500 secured the area of Broad Street prior to MOCERT and RDF’s arrival. Once they arrived on location all agencies worked quickly to evacuate the area and investigate the crime/threat.
With great mutual aid from our local police departments and our friends at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office we were able to determine that the crime/threat was a false public alarm.
