Florida deputy turned storm chaser as tornado touched down south near Marco Island

MARCO ISLAND, FL – A large tornado touched down in Collier County Sunday morning and one deputy made sure drivers were aware as he was driving toward Marco Island.

At approximately 9:18 on Sunday, Cpl. Eric Kincaid was traveling south on Collier Boulevard toward Marco Island. As he approached the Manatee Road intersection he spotted a tornado traveling north toward U.S. 41. Cpl. Kincaid turned on his emergency lights, made a U-turn at the traffic signal and followed the tornado at a safe distance to ensure that motorists in the area were aware of it. The tornado crossed over U.S. 41 and began to dissipate.
