ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND – A Maryland Lottery player from Annapolis scored a $50,000 payday on Jan. 13, playing the 24 Karat Gold scratch-off and discovering its top prize.

The 32-year-old winner bought his hot instant ticket at Value Dollar located at 8030 New Hampshire Avenue in Hyattsville. The scratch-off he claimed at Maryland Lottery headquarters was the fourth of eight total top prizes, which leaves four more unclaimed. The $5 game went on sale at retailers in August 2021 and still has more than 350,000 unclaimed prizes ranging from $5 to 45,000.

Value Dollar also scores a win. The Prince George’s County business earns a bonus of $500 from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize
