SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison conducted his first recruit swearing in this morning as 84 men and women embarked on their training at the Suffolk County Police Academy.
The class includes 70 Suffolk County Police recruits, seven of whom are fluent Spanish speakers. Approximately 43% of the recruits bring previous law enforcement experience. Among the 80 are 10 recruits from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and two from the Stony Brook State University Police.
This recruit class is part of an announcement made last year by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, who was also on-hand to welcome the recruits, regarding the largest hiring of law enforcement officers during a 12-month period in county history.
