Two teens arrested for illegal guns in Rockville

ROCKVILLE, MD – On January 20, 2022 around 8:00 p.m. RCPD officers were patrolling in the 700 block of Monroe Street and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the stop, officers located a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle. Officers also located a second loaded semi-automatic handgun in the waistband of the passenger’s pants.

An inspection of both handguns revealed them to be “ghost guns” with no serial numbers and equipped with extended magazines. Ghost guns are unserialized and untraceable firearms that can be bought online as a kit and assembled by the purchaser.

James Edward Bowens, age 19, of the 18000 block of Bent Willow Circle in Germantown, was arrested and charged with Loaded Handgun in Vehicle, Possession of Firearm Involving a Minor, Loaded Handgun in Vehicle and Resisting Lawful Arrest. He was transported to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and was released on a $5,000 bond.

Daniel Soung Soo Pak, age 18, of the 8200 block of Stone Trail Drive in Bethesda, was arrested and charged with Loaded Handgun on Person, Possession of Firearm Involving a Minor, Loaded Handgun in Vehicle, Handgun in Vehicle. He was transported to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and was released on a $500.00 cash bond.
