15-year-old bike thief caught with gun by police

DORCHESTER, MA – About 3:58 PM, on Friday, January 21, 2022, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of 209 Ashmont Street in Dorchester.

Officers were responding to the area in search of a group of suspects that had just stolen a bicycle from the area of 19 Helena Road in Dorchester.

Officers located the group on Ashmont Street and after further investigation, a 15-year-old juvenile male from Boston will be summoned into Dorchester District Court for Larceny Over, Assault & Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. Officers arrested Jeremiah Kent, 20, of Mattapan after recovering a loaded Glock Model 21 .45 caliber firearm with twelve rounds in the magazine from his coat pocket.

Kent was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm, Carrying without a License and Resisting Arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester.
