PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a commercial gunpoint robbery that occurred in West Philadelphia. It happened on December 21st, 2021, at the New Tavern Bar located at 232 S 45th Street. Shortly after 3:15 PM, four men with guns entered the bar just before it opened. The offenders assaulted the bar owner and demanded money. They stole several thousand dollars before continuing to the residences above the bar. There, the men robbed several tenants before fleeing the scene.
