Old Town shooting leaves one dead

PORTLAND, OR – Overnight on Friday morning, at 2:16 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a report of someone shot at Northwest 2nd Avenue and Northwest Couch Street. When they arrived they located an adult male with a gunshot wound. The officers employed trauma first aid measures on the victim until paramedics arrived to take over medical care. The victim was transported to a hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim died.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived and has not been located. No suspect information is being released at this time.

The Portland Police Homicide Unit detectives are responding to investigate. During the investigation, Northwest 2nd Avenue is closed between West Burnside Street and Northwest Davis Street. Northwest Couch Street was closed between Northwest 1st Avenue and Northwest 3rd Avenue.
