Dewey Beach man facing drug and gun charges following DUI investigation

Rehoboth Beach, DE- After an early Thursday morning traffic stop, Delaware State Police arrested Andrew Vogt, 32, of Dewey Beach, on criminal and traffic charges. 

On January 27, 2022, at approximately 2:04 a.m., a trooper on patrol on Coastal Highway, north of Miller Road, observed a black Chevrolet Cruze speeding southbound on Coastal Hwy. A traffic stop was conducted in the Big Chill Surf Cantina parking lot located at 19406 Coastal Hwy. A strong odor of alcohol was detected emitting from inside the car when contact was made with the operator, Andrew Vogt. Vogt displayed signs of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. A DUI investigation ensued, and Vogt was subsequently arrested without incident. Located in the vehicle during a probable cause search were the following items:

  • Loaded Taurus 9mm G2C semi-automatic pistol
  • 9.5″ Camillus fixed blade knife 
  • Approximately 13.85 grams of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia

Vogt was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 7, where he was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), Possession of a Firearm while Under the Influence, Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of Marijuana (Civil Violation), and Speeding in Excess of Posted Speed Limit. Vogt was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and released on a $3,000.00 unsecured bond.
