13-year-old confesses to making school shooting threat at East Naples Middle School

NAPLES, FL – Detectives today arrested a former East Naples Middle School student after an investigation determined he was responsible for a threat of violence to the school made over social media.

The 13-year-old New Beginnings Naples Alternative Education Center student is charged with written threats to kill or do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, which is a second-degree felony under Florida Statute 836.10.

Detectives said the student confessed to authoring the threat and disseminating it.

The student was taken into custody and transported to the Collier County jail where he was turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
